Looking back vs Turning Around (repentance)

[Luke 9:62](https://www.lds.org/scriptures/search?lang=eng&query=Luke 9:62&x=0&y=0) And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

This verse is considered at the end of the Come Follow Me lesson for this week. I wondered, when should we decide not to “look back” and yet be quick to repent (turn around)?

What does it mean to look back after putting our hand to the plow? Why would this attitude make us not fit for the kingdom of God?

I found an excellent array of different commentaries here: https://biblehub.com/commentaries/luke/9-62.htm

The question of mine focused on “looking back” and compared it to repentance, “turning back.” After consideration, though, I think that is a misreading; the emphasis should include “after putting our hand to the plow,” meaning, “after committing [to covenant service].” So, in general, quickness to repent is a virtue. However, you cannot repent from covenants, and to try would be the grave sin of covenant breaking.
